Below you will find a general description of the types of services we provide. If you have a legal issue that does not fit within any of the areas below, we would be happy to discuss the matter with you at no charge. If we are unable to assist you, we would be happy to refer you to an attorney that may be able to better assist you.
We recognize that matters involving your family, especially divorce, are emotionally very difficult. At Ronald B Taylor, P.C. we believe that it is just as important to address the emotional issues for the entire family, including the children, as it is to address the legal issues.
We can provide representation in the following areas:
We have experience in all aspects of employment disputes. We can represent both employers and employees in matters ranging from unemployment claims, wage claims, discrimination or harassment related claims, and other employment disputes. We have represented clients in matters before the EEOC, CCRD ( Colorado), U.S. Department of Labor, and litigation in state and federal courts.
We recognize the unique issues that physicians and other health care practices face and are equipped to assist in both general business matters and those unique to health care. We have significant experience in matters involving preparation and interpretation of health benefit plans, denial of claims, claim processing time lines and requirements, and general regulatory requirements for health plans and insurance companies. We can review contracts and advise health care providers on contracts with health payors (health plans, insurers, HMOs, PPOs, etc.) and their networks. We also have experience handling anti-trust matters related to health care networks and contracts, including litigation in federal court.
The firm provides substantial experience with day to day matters confronting small to medium sized businesses. We also have experience with those less routine, and complicated matters that may face your business. These include reductions in the size of your work force, retaining consultants to assist with troubled operations, sale of stock or assets, raising capital, regulatory compliance, and set up or operation of a corporate compliance program.
Growing businesses face issues that frequently require the services of a lawyer. One of the most critical areas can involve your employees. One of our primary concerns is ensuring that business clients avoid potential legal problems with their employees because these can be costly and can take away from the time you need to run your business. We have significant experience in employment disputes, including EEOC claims and litigation. Having seen the need for and benefits of risk management programs, we offer small businesses risk management and other services. We can also provide consultations at a fixed fee over time that permits you to contact us at your convenience with day to day issues at they arise. These are explained in more detail in the Small Business Services section.
This firm is qualified to assist you in matters involving protection of your child’s legal rights. We have experience with the special education needs of children in schools and their rights under federal law to obtain appropriate and necessary services from public schools.
The firm reviews contracts and subcontracts, provides assistance in opposing or filing mechanics’ liens, and other construction related matters. We have experience with construction liens, construction loans, and lititigation involving over $4.0 million in disputed mechanics’ liens.
Ronald B. Taylor, P.C. offers representation in deportation proceedings and bail matters for detainees. We also offer representation in visa related matters, including visa applications for temporary workers.
We can assist individuals with any insurance related issues, whether it be a denial of a claim or you need to evaluate the meaning of your policy or benefits. For small businesses, we can also provide you with review and advice on your coverage and your employee health plans.
The firm has first hand experience negotiating resolution of many matters with both state and federal regulatory agencies. These include the Colorado Division of Insurance, the U.S. Department of Labor, and the U.S. Office of Civil Rights.
Dealing with the loss of a family member or loved one can be a difficult experience for anyone. We can assist the personal representative appointed by will, or help family members obtain appointment as a personal representative when there is no will. In simple estates, we can generally provide limited services for a fixed fee, reducing the cost to the estate where the personal representative can perform many of the tasks related to the probate. For more information, see the section on Unbundled Services below.
We recognize that litigation can be costly, as well as take the focus away from what you do best, operate your business. Our primary goal in any commercial litigation is to minimize the impact on your business. We will take the time necessary to learn about your business, and can recommend solutions or alternatives to minimize the cost and the disruptions involved. Armed with knowledge of your business and goals, we can pursue your matters competently and aggressively as need be.
The Firm can provide you with various levels of assistance in preparing your will, or establishing simple trusts.
We have experience handling traffic matters, including driving under the influence or while impaired. We can also handle minor criminal matters as well, but do not handle felony cases.
If you have a legal matter but feel you cannot afford an attorney or you wish to save on the fees involved, you may be able to take advantage of limited or unbundled services. In an uncontested divorce for example, we can help prepare the documents you need and provide advice, but you will appear in court on your own. While this type of limited representation is not appropriate in all cases, in other cases it is, and can save you the legal expenses of a full representation.
In all areas, it is important that you understand all of the work and stages of a case, and the limited role an attorney will play. Before we begin, we can discuss your case in detail and decide if this option makes sense and is acceptable to you. During this process we will talk to you about the obligations we will both undertake in limited representation, and if you wish to proceed, we will provide you with a detailed explanation in writing of the services, your role in the process, and the applicable fee.
This process is similar to selecting items from a menu a la carte, and can lend itself well to some family law matters, including dissolutions (divorces), probate matters, adoptions, and simpler employment disputes. Tasks for business matters (contract drafting, review, etc.), simple wills, trusts, and simple litigation matters may also work in this category of services. For example, the firm can prepare the appropriate initial pleadings for an uncontested divorce, a suit over a simple contract or collection, a will, a vendor contract, employee forms, and other items for a flat fee. This fee can also be adjusted to include subsequent consultations and advice not to exceed a certain number of hours. These services are not available in federal court matters.
